Titans Season 2 Release Date And Footage Revealed At SDCC

The popular DC Universe series Titans was the first original series by the new streaming service, and after months of anticipation we finally have confirmation of when we can expect to see Titans and what it might look like. Here’s a hint, it looks incredible!

When Titans debuted, it became an instantly dark, gritty, entertaining series as the perfect way to launch the superhero centered streaming platform. It had a slow burn method of storytelling, taking the time to essentially introduce several members (and possible members) with each chapter on the freshman season. By the time we began to get an idea of each story, the first season was wrapping up on a fairly prominent cliffhanger with major villain Trigon and the fate of several left ambiguous.

Next came confirmation that we would see the addition of heroes such as Superboy (Joshua Orpin) Aqualad (Drew Van Acker) and a family of villains with Deathstroke (Esai Morales) that will be accompanied by his children Ravager (Chelsea Zhang) and Jericho (Chella Man). It had also been said that fan favorites Hawk and Dove (Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly) would return in a more prominent capacity and the mini-trailer shown during San Diego Comic Con only proved that to be true.

In the footage shared, we see each of the core members with small inclinations of the action and kick-ass inclusions we expect, but what has changed is the addition of other characters both previously recurring and new to the season. As mentioned, Superboy is visible in the trailer and dons his tee and jeans outfit from the 2003 run of Superboy, aka Conner Kent. This includes an interaction with Krypto as the finale promised, so have no fear my fellow Krypto lovers! Aqualad is also shown briefly in a group shot, but this additionally includes Hawk, Dove, and Wonder Girl (Conor Leslie) as an official team. That means we received a first look at the Donna Troy outfit that fans have been eager to see, and a brief idea of what the new costumed heroes will look like. Aesthetically the costumes look marvelous and battle-ready, with even returning roles showing minor changes to their heroic image.

The plot doesn’t receive too much screen time in this small teaser, but it does end with the one and only Slade Wilson appearing in full costume to which the audience loudly cheered for at this first look. Even with the trailer being a small hint at what’s to come, what we did see was enough to have us completely on board for whatever Titans will throw at us next. First impressions suggest that this will be even better than the first season of the hit series and we’ll be eagerly awaiting season 2 of DC Universe’s Titans when it debuts September 6, 2019, exclusively on the streaming service.

Are you ready for the epic return of Titans?
