Bel Holiday Presents The Video For EP Lead Single “Neurosis”

“I wanted to be able to show people the song at its core, without any orchestrative frills…”

Having grown up in New York and listening to numerous show soundtracks as well as songs by huge creative artists from across the decades such as Lady Gaga and Janis Joplin, Bel Holiday always seemed to know that one way or another, music would be a huge part of her life – and so it is. Living in what is often regarded as the creative and artistic capital of the world, which in her words is “a great place to express yourself”, encouraged Bel to follow her own musical path, and since then, she’s been the recipient of the Rising Star Award at the Jazz Forum Arts Vocal Jazz Festival, and was the Grand Prize winner at the prestigious West Park International Music Festival in 2019.

This summer, Bel will release her debut EP Watermelon, a mix of quirky rock-fusion supported by powerful lyrics that draw on important and relevant topics important like love, sexuality, mental illness, and more. The first single from the collection, “Neurosis”, the royalties from which will be going towards The Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM), dropped last month and now PopWrapped are delighted to unveil its backyard acoustic video.

Asked as to why she opted to make such a stripped back visual to accompany the track Bel said:

“I decided to record a stripped down video in the backyard because I wanted to be able to show people the song at its core, without any orchestrative frills. I did not produce nor involve myself with production very much back when neurosis was being recorded, and I feel that as a result, I did not allow myself much freedom to play around with what the song could be- so this is what I’m trying to do with the song now.”
