Nalini Tranquim Shares The Video For “Your Love” & Talks Future Plans

As a singer-songwriter, pianist, author and life coach, Nalini Tranquim knows the power of music and words, and their unique, undeniable ability to get a message across to others. Her latest single “Your Love”, the video for which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere, is testament to that, and is both the culmination of 15 years of emotional turmoil and a love song to her faith which has helped her overcome the difficulties life has thrown at her. She spoke to PopWrapped about the story behind the song, how she’s been coping with the Corona Virus crisis and her goals for both 2021 and 2022.

Is there a particular message or story to “Your Love”?

There’s a crazy story to this song actually. A song that I began to pen 15 years ago with the words ‘And I’m falling in love with you.’ I remember in my mind’s eye whilst singing that line over and over again, that I wanted to write a love song that would encapsulate an unending and undeniable kind of love. A love that brings comfort and security in a day that everyone has to fight for I, me, myself. We all want to be seen, heard and understood. I believe that longing stems from an innate desire within humanity, to find true love and to be loved. The rest of the song came 15 years later, in the aftermath of a very dark season for my family and me.

I found myself battling anxiety, depression and PTSD. All I had during this time was the four walls of my home, my piano and one singular resolve: That despite everything falling apart around me, there is such a thing as an unending and undeniable love that awakens tenacity on the inside of us to stand firm and push through whatever storm breaks.

How did you find the creative process to and for the video, and what do you want viewers to take from it when they watch?

I remember saying to my producer that I specifically wanted to capture the movement and essence of time. The first line of verse 1 says ‘It doesn’t matter how long I’ve known you. Your love for me is wild.’ An unending love stands the test of time. It’s constant, never changing despite the rolling of seasons.

The biggest take home for my viewers when they watch this video is to walk away with a sense of comfort and safety. It doesn’t matter what comes, nor what the future holds. We needn’t waste time worrying. If anything, we need to maximise the time we have. Live, love and laugh hard and take a moment to be still because deep down, eternity is etched within each of us. I am only able to face tomorrow because I know in my heart that there is a God who loves me and whose love for me is unending and undeniable.

How have your personal and professional lives been impacted by the ongoing Corona crisis, and how if at all have such impacts reflected on your music and your creativity lately?

The Corona crisis has hit hard. Here in Melbourne, Australia we are still under very strict lockdown restrictions and so for many of us, we haven’t been allowed to visit our friends and family. It’s impacted people mentally, emotionally, physically and financially. For me personally, 2019 was actually worse because of my PTSD. Obviously from a professional standpoint, all live performances were cancelled overnight and that’s been tough. However, and I’m sure other artists will testify to this, it’s forced us to step up in our creativity and to come up with new ways of doing things and connecting with our people. Actually, I think I’m more creative now than I’ve ever been.

What’s the one thing you’re most looking forward to doing as and when this crisis ends?

There’s two things actually. Firstly, holding a family bbq!! Yup, very Aussie of me! I am missing being around my loved ones, altogether in one place over a yummy meal. Secondly, horse riding!! Oh how I miss being out in nature, on the back of a horse, breathing in my surroundings. It energizes me just thinking about it.

Have you started planning for 2021 yet or given the current circumstances – aka the virus – are you taking/working things on more of a day to day approach? What are your goals for the weeks and months ahead?

This is a great question. I’d be curious to know this answer from all of our readers actually. I’ve set goals for 2021 and 2022. Though we are still living very much day to day right now, this pandemic has certainly stirred things in my heart that I must achieve before my time on this earth is done. Might sound morbid but haven’t the events of 2020 highlighted just how fragile life really is?

I’m currently working on my audio book of ‘The Orange Hue’ which I’m very excited about. My goal is to get book number two written in 2021 and I’m working on a fictional story which I plan to have ready and completed in 2022. I’ll of course intertwine more song-writing and plan to grow my life and business coaching business in the coming years. That’s the plan anyway!
