JVLEE Unveils The Video For New Single “Mojave”

“It’s about want and attraction. A need for an individual.”

JVLEE grew up inspired by an array of bands and artists from several different genres including soul and Motown and could never quite break away from – nor did she want to – the love she had for music and performing. Said love only grew stronger as she got older and she made it her ambition to find herself a part of the business – and to be alongside the many artists – she loved so much.

She’s a fairly new name on the music scene, with a fresh, exciting and invigorating new sound, but JVLEE – pronounced Julie – made quite an impact on both fans and critics with her debut single “Rush” earlier this year and looks set to earn herself more acclaim with the release of her new track “Mojave” which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere.

With an eclectic fusion of styles, “Mojave” delivers a melting-pot of sounds, as JVLEE touches upon alt-pop, neo-soul,R&B and rock genres, mixing electrifying guitar riffs, subtle electronic passages and her effortless, smokey vocals to great effect. There’s also a decidedly deeper meaning to/story behind this song than her previous, as JVLEE explains: “I immediately liked the guitars in the instrumental, it felt super sexy and smooth which is the kinda vibe I like to have in my music. Then I started thinking about want and attraction. A need for an individual. Like the intensity of the sun..comparing the intensity of the Mojave Desert to how intense your want for that person is.”

In terms of her artistic and lyrical inspiration, she goes on to add that: “I absolutely love the rise of women rap artists in the music industry. It is about time women have a platform where they can express themselves just as freely as male artists do. I’ve been singing since as long as I can remember and I had so many influences growing up such as Amy Winehouse, Beyonce, Selena Quintanilla, and etc. They all had amazing unique voices that really inspired me to sing. What I think I hate is these restrictions of versatility in artists; example if an artists’ genre is mainly rock and wants to switch it up and do pop or R&B. There should be no issue with that. Let artists do what they want to do musically. I find inspiration from pain essentially; all my inspiration really can put out of bad situations or from myself feeling blue.”
