Raised between her homeland of Morocco and Switzerland, Ghita grew up exposed to a number of different cultures, musical ones included, that gave both her a wider perspective on life and would heavily go on to influence her sound and style as she made her mark on the music world.
Now, championed by Clash as “the gal to get behind” and having dropped only a handful of releases, Ghita has already amassed 3 million streams on Spotify and over a million views on YouTube. With her debut EP ‘Lost Angeles’ out on December 17th, she’s teasing the collection with her new single “No Stopping”, and PopWrapped are delighted to premiere its video.
The song, a spacious, slow-burning ballad, was co-written with Grammy-nominated Kimberly ‘Kaydence’ Krysiuk (Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings”) and Casolina, with production from 9AM who has worked with Ty Dolla $ign and Jason Derulo and showcases Ghita’s ability to lyrically balance the purity of the song’s sentiment with a mature vocal performance that doesn’t overplay its drama.
Ghita says of the inspiration to and story behind the song and video: “‘No Stopping’ is about me feeling very down about my career in L.A.,” says Ghita. “I was writing to feel better and, more importantly, to remind myself who I really am inside, which is not someone who gives up easily. I connected really well with Kaydence and Casolina. We were trying to write a song that would mean something to all of us, and they helped me turn my pain into something beautiful. This song was made in LA and shot in Morocco because of COVID which actually made it cooler because it made me discover some of my country and I got to collaborate with some amazing talents like Younes Jourrane (netstyle) who directed the video and all the videos in this ep, his minimalist approach matches mine. “
