The series finale of WandaVision is finally here. Fans have experienced a roller-coaster ride of events watching this show. From the sitcoms, to the birth of Billy and Tommy, to the expansion of the Westview anomaly and the catchy theme tune of Agatha All Along. It has all lead up to this and we are breaking it all down. Spoilers ahead for those who have not seen the show in its entirety.

Episode Nine:

The episode picks up right where we left off. Agatha has the twins in her magical chokehold and Wanda is attempting to save them. After Agatha throws the boys to the ground, Wanda uses her magic to throw Agatha. The twins are advised by their mother to go to their room. Agatha now has a piece of Wanda’s power, claiming Wanda is “undeserving”. Wanda’s hand begins to visibly change and Agatha throws Wanda to the ground. A car controlled by Wanda, comes flying in behind Agatha throwing her into the Maximoff house.

As Wanda turns around, S.W.O.R.D’s version of Vision greets her. She walks towards him believing it to be her husband. He puts both hands on her face, attempting to crush her skull. Out of nowhere, the real Vision flies in to save his wife and throws White Vision into a nearby R.V. Vision and Wanda have a moment of reconciliation and agree to fight for their home. As Vision begins to fight White Vision, Wanda flies away to search for Agatha.

From a nearby window, Monica shouts for Wanda but Fake Pietro tells her that no one can hear her. Monica tries to escape but he won’t let her. The Vision’s are having a full on fist fight and White Vision reveals his goal is to neutralize Wanda. Outside Westview, a handcuffed Jimmy Woo is threatening Director Hayward with the F.B.I. He manages to uncuff himself and calls his colleagues at Quantico.

Back in the town of Westview, the citizens are all getting on with their day as Wanda ascends to the ground. Suddenly, Wanda is thrown to the ground by Agatha’s magic. As she summons The Dark Hold, Agatha informs Wanda about the chapter dedicated to The Scarlet Witch. Wanda defends herself from Agatha’s accusations. To prove her wrong, Agatha breaks the spell cast by Wanda and frees the people of Westview out of their sitcom personas. Dottie is the first to break character, revealing herself to be Sarah and pleads with Wanda to free her daughter. Wanda appears confused as everyone around her begins to break character as well.

Back in his man cave, Fake Pietro is blending a smoothie as Monica begins to uncover his identity. It is revealed that his real name is Ralph Bohner and he is being controlled by Agatha. Monica rips off the beaded necklace that kept him under this spell the whole time. As the two Vision’s fight, Tommy and Billy flea their room to help their mother. Back in the town centre, the real citizens of Westview surround Wanda and express their feelings to her. She tries to reassure them but they beg for her mercy. In her grief, Wanda finally sees what she has been doing and agrees to let them all go.

Wanda breaks the barrier, freeing the citizens of Westview and giving S.W.O.R.D the advanced opportunity to enter. As she breaks the barrier, her family begins to fall apart as they are tied to this world. Wanda closes the hex and her family rush to her side. Agatha attempts to hurt the Maximoff family and in doing so obtains more of Wanda’s magic. Both of Wanda’s hands turn grey.

As White Vision ascends from the sky, the real Vision stops him from hurting his family. They hurdle into a library and continue their battle. Vision begins to question the motivation of his S.W.O.R.D alternative. White Vision reveals he is there to destroy the real Vision. Our hero, informs his S.W.O.R.D alternative that he is only a conditional Vision. White Vision then requests elaboration.

Outside, Wanda is faced with S.W.O.R.D agents as Agatha flies away. Wanda advises her sons to take care of the military and she will be right back. Tommy uses his super speed to steal all the S.W.O.R.D weapons causing Hayward to get out of his car. As Director Hayward is about to shoot the boys, Monica stands in front of them shielding them from the bullets. Monica’s new found powers render the bullets useless and Billy stops the final bullet. As Hayward gets back into his car and attempts to drive away, Darcy crashes into him and jokingly advises him to “have fun in prison”.

Back in the library, the two Vision’s begin to bond and figure out a way to restore the memories of the original Vision. The real Vision passes the memories onto White Vision by touching what should be The Mind Stone. White Vision’s motives have changed and he leaves Westview. As Vision is embracing his children, Wanda uses her magic to transport Agatha back to her darkest moment in Salem, Massachusetts. As she is tied to the stake, Agatha looks around in disbelief. The corpses of the once deceased coven rise to kill Agatha. Agatha uses her magic to focus their attention to Wanda and they tie her to the stake.

In her rage, Wanda magically transports them back to Westview and begins to give Agatha her powers. As they take to the sky, Wanda becomes visibly decrepit as she gives away more of her magic. Agatha laughs as she becomes the only witch in Westview. As Agatha tries to end it once and for all, Wanda reveals she cast the ruins. Making her the only witch with any real power. Wanda takes her powers back and finally becomes The Scarlet Witch.

As she accepts her destiny, Wanda and Agnes ascend back down to earth. In her Sokovian accent, Wanda informs Agatha she will keep her locked in Westview to play her role as “the nosy neighbour”. Agatha pleads with Wanda and then returns to her Agnes persona. The boys rush to hug their mother and the Maximoff family make their way home. As the hex begins to disappear, Wanda and Vision put the boys to bed. Our favourite couple kiss their sons goodnight and Wanda thanks the boys for choosing her to be their mother.

As Wanda attempts to turn out the lights, Vision says he read that it was bad luck to say goodbye in the dark. He admits he didn’t actually read that and just wanted to see her one last time. The hex continues to disappear and Vision asks Wanda what he is. She answers saying he is the piece of The Mind Stone that lives in her but mostly he is her love. As they share one final kiss, Vision begins to say goodbye before Wanda tells him they will say hello again. They hold each other as the hex disappears and Vision fades away.

Wanda returns back to the moment just before she created the Westview anomaly. As she walks back to the town centre, all of the citizens icily stare at her. Monica and Wanda share a moment of reconciliation. Wanda apologises to Monica and claims she will learn to understand her Scarlet Witch powers. The Scarlet Witch leaves Westview and Monica wishes her good luck.

In a mid credit scene, Monica and Jimmy are reunited and Hayward is arrested. Another agent advises Monica she is needed in the movie theatre. The agent reveals herself to be one of the Kree, as seen in Captain Marvel. Monica questions where exactly they need her to be and the agent points upwards.

In a post credit scene, Wanda is sitting on her front porch outside an isolated cabin. As she walks inside to make a cup of tea, the camera pans all the way into her bedroom where a projected version of Wanda as The Scarlet Witch is reading The Dark Hold. We hear the voices of Tommy and Billy calling for help and the scene ends.

A Serious Finale:

Marvel fans have been on an emotional journey with WandaVision and the series finale was sure to be the payoff we all needed. After last week’s episode we learn that Wanda created the hex by taking over the town of Westview in her grief. When the citizens of Westview are broken out of their characters Wanda finally faces the consequences of her actions. The first to break is Dottie who reveals herself to be Sarah. Early fan theories suggested Dottie may have been a secret villain or even Mephisto however this was not the case.

Ever since his introduction in Episode Five, there has been a lot of speculation around the character of Pietro. When Evan Peters popped up on our screens, hope was held out for the introduction of The X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We finally get the reveal of who Fake Pietro really is and it was disappointing to say the least. Monica uncovers the true identity of Fake Pietro, revealing he is actually Ralph Bohner. Although this may seem like an opportunity to place an adult based joke into a Marvel series finale, there could be more to Ralph than we thought. Fans have theorised that Ralph Bohner may actually be Jimmy Woo’s witness as mentioned in Episode Four.

Amongst the many battles taking place in Westview, Vision and White Vision are reaching some sort of reconciliation. Although Vison does not have The Mind Stone, he manages to pass the memories of the original Vision onto White Vision. Vision is the part of The Mind Stone that lives in Wanda and this may be the best way to keep Paul Bettany in the MCU.

In Episode Eight, Agatha informs Wanda that only the witch who casts the ruins can use her magic. In an epic battle scene, Wanda casts her ruins and finally becomes The Scarlet Witch. Wanda fulfilling her destiny proved to be nothing short of epic. She reduces Agatha back to her sitcom persona however this didn’t feel like the right way to defeat this character. This may leave the door open for Kathryn Hahn to return as Agatha in future MCU projects.

To say this finale was emotional would be an understatement. Wanda has to say goodbye to her children and the love of her life. There was a glimmer of hope for Wanda to get her happily ever after but seeing as this is Marvel, they have to tug on our heartstrings. As Wanda utters the line, “we will say hello again” she is brought back to the moment before she created the hex. As she gets icy looks from the citizens of Westview, we get a touching moment between Monica and Wanda. The moment is short and could have been a little bit longer but proves to be touching none the less.

In true Marvel fashion, we get a mid credit and a post credit scene. In the mid credit scene, Monica is being told she is needed by the Kree. Fans have theorised this could be either Talos or Nick Fury. Setting up her future as Photon in Captain Marvel 2. In the post credit scene, we see two versions of Wanda. One Wanda is casually making tea whilst the other appears in Scarlet Witch form. The second Wanda appears as a projection similar to Doctor Strange. As we know this series is leading into Wanda’s role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Wanda may actually be trying to bring her children back and find a multiverse for them to live with her.

Although the series finale was not perfect, it has opened the MCU up to so many more possibilities. This is not the end of Wanda but it is the end of WandaVision. Fear not Marvel fans, as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier comes out March 19th and we have so much to look forward to.
