Gerle Releases “Crush Gone Wrong” Video

Gerle as an artist never fails to impress with her refined vocal tonality that is rich, warm, and inviting to any listener’s ear. She has a sweet and pure talent that is essential to crafting a well-done pop song, all while remaining true to her roots and staying consistent with her art. “Crush Gone Wrong” is no exception to Gerle’s impressive pop music repertoire, and it just got a wild new music video!  Playing up the fun, youthful vibe of the single, her take on the story matches the overall sound of the track perfectly. Blending together elements of comedy, reality, and the surreal, the video shows off Gerle’s creativity and artistry in a way that is wholly her own.

Gerle is a California-based indie-pop artist who has an incredible musical journey behind her and in front of her. Gerle’s influences hail from the likes of Robyn, Miley Cyrus, and Madonna, but her sonic quality is unique and effervescent all on its own. She is unapologetic, vulnerable, and unafraid to be herself – all the best and most badass qualities to have.

Growing up touring on the road with her mother, Gerle adapted her natural talent to help her craft her own musicality and artistry. As she grew older, music became a space of healing and fulfillment of loneliness for Gerle. She used music to cure and repair, which led her to find themes of heartbreak, truth, and love in the songs she creates now.

While it is more about her imagination and craft than her accomplishments, Gerle has had quite a career with many highs. She was the Fresh Face of the Grammy Foundation and appeared in the documentary sponsored by Herbal Essences and Neutrogena and walked the red-carpet event for them at the awards show. Additionally, Gerle had 3 remixes in the top 5 on the upfront club charts in the UK and the Cool Cuts Charts and had her single spun on stations such as Gaydio, Kiss FM, Wideboys, and the Andi Durrant show.

Gerle has had her songs featured on wildly popular shows such as Jersey Shore, Married to Medicine, and Snooki and JWoww. The performer was also a featured guest on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and her music has been praised on social media by moguls Paris and Nicky Hilton.

She works in tandem with Grammy-award winning producer ToneDef (Santana, Green Day, Briston Maroney) to write and produce her singles, and together the two have created an ethereal and original sound to embody who Gerle is.

The pop songstress has released her singles “Drown You Out (Acoustic)”, “Shadows, Shadows (Stripped)”, “Head in A Bottle, Head in A Bottle (Stripped)”, “DLMD”, “DLMD (Stripped)”, and most recently “Worst Song Ever” and “Crush Gone Wrong.”

The entire music video for her single “Crush Gone Wrong” is animated in a cardboard cutout style that gives the visuals for the video a somewhat quirky appeal. This eccentricity works in the music video’s favor though, particularly once the viewer finds out who Gerle’s love interest is. The video is about Gerle falling in love with a famous rap star, none other than the rapping T-rex himself, “Zilla”. She begins to fantasize about a relationship between her and Zilla, imagining things like Zilla flying her around, feeding Zilla entire bottles of champagne, as cruising the city in his entirely gold commercial. Infatuated by Zilla, she begins plotting on how to get his attention. And there is no better way to get a T-Rex Rap star’s attention than posting a video of her twerking on youtube with the title “Zilla, I Love You!”

Once Gerle has finally won Godzilla over, she sees him dancing with other women, sending her into a fit of rage that causes her to transform into a massive female Godzilla. The newly transformed Gerle chases Godzilla around as she destroys the entire city out of anger. The video closes with Godzilla presenting a ring to the monstrous version of Gerle. She shrinks back down to her normal self and the two proceed to walk off into the sunset together as the city burns around them.

Overall, the music video does a great job of portraying the noncommittal nature of the modern dating world in an innocent and attention grabbing way. From showing their “honeymoon” stage of the relationship through animated hearts, to the hilarious portrayal of Gerle’s heartbreak after witnessing her love interest entertaining other paper women, the music video does well to portray a negative situation with a positive spin. Filled with peculiar visual moments that will make any viewer chuckle, the music video for “Crush Gone Wrong” is just as enjoyable as the song is. The artistic choices of this video definitely make it memorable and pair perfectly with the Gerle’s sweet, upbeat style of music.

Gerle has definitely found her style not only with her dream pop music, but with her bombastic visuals too. She is challenging the norms and is unafraid to try something new. Through her music and music videos, she gives off an aura of pure creativity and dares to be different. Be sure to check out Gerle’s “Crush Gone Wrong” music video, available on YouTube. While the song may be about a “Crush Gone Wrong,” the music video is certainly done right!
