Psychedelic-indie pop duo Modern Original – Josh Hogan and Andy Warren from the hugely successful indie rock band The Mowgli’s – are an emerging surf rock meets psych pop band out of sunny Southern California who make upbeat and honest music laced with deeper messages of wisdom and truth. Inspired by bands such as Tame Impala, Bleachers and Glass Animals, their sound is inventive and immersive and features plenty of sing-along qualities that will have you playing their songs on repeat for days. After releasing a string of singles over the past year, the duo are back with the hilarious and fun-filled video for their latest single “I’m An Alien”, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere.
The song features a vibrant melody, an upbeat chorus and the type of charisma that we could all benefit from after a tough year. “I’m An Alien’ is a song for anyone who has ever felt disconnected from society around them.,” the duo share. “‘Feels like it’s only me, and I’m staring at the sun,’ explains that feeling of being alone in a sea of people. It’s ok to feel disconnected, but it’s important to be honest with yourself. This is where the healing begins. The synth lead in the bridge is for the moment when you accept yourself for who you truly are.”
In the visuals, Modern Original star alongside an alien who finds himself living a confusing and foreign life in suburbia. Filled with masterful animation, puppetry, and plenty of comedic scenarios that will have you crying with laughter, the duo do an exceptional job of reminding others not to take themselves too seriously – because we’re all a little weird inside.
