Stray Kids Drops New K-Pop Christmas Staple, “Christmas EveL”

The hardworking JYP group Stray Kids has been bringing their heart and soul to music for almost four years now – and the new holiday project titled Christmas EveL adds to their wonderful discography with another impressive (and themed) first.

After the momentous release of NOEASY, the eight-member group became the first artists to the major label to sell over one million units, marking a unique opportunity just months later to give thanks to their passionate fans around the world. Returning to (and accomplishing) their prior goal of producing a seasonally themed track, the four-song collection of Christmas EveL rounds out an unfathomably successful 2021 for Stray Kids.

As with anything the group attempts, there’s a perception of originality and a needed rap influence that ultimately goes as hard as expected – but with a Christmastime presence in K-pop that’s unlike anything you’re going to hear in the final act of the year.

The lead track “Christmas EveL” is both produced and written by 3RACHA (a unit of Stray Kids comprised of members Bang Chan, Changbin, and HAN) and in a press release, we learn that, “In contrast to the usual calm music played during the holiday season, Stray Kids charges ‘Christmas EveL’ with their free-spirited, unique energy to provide a different perspective and hip-hop version of Christmas.”

The music video for the new Christmas K-pop staple maintains the lively performance persona that they’ve developed in their careers together – offering some iconic visuals, high fashion, and a little bit of necessary trouble for winter. The music video also creates a fun Christmas mini-film that relishes in vibrancy and infectious comradery, sure to be enjoyed for the next month straight.

The mini-album’s other three songs include an English version of their massive hit track “DOMINO” as a perfectly timed gift, along with “24 to 25” meant to reflect the importance of “cozy” holiday warmth over two days that appreciate the notion of spending time with loved ones. Finally, “Winter Falls” offers an acoustic, snap-beat track that focuses on soft, sweet vocals from the group – with enchanting instrumental depth.

In all sincerity, if you’ve found yourself in need of a little K-pop Christmas gift wrapped in perfection, Stray Kids certainly has you covered. Stray Kids’ new musical Christmas bliss, Christmas EveL can be streamed in full here, and the music video for the title track can be seen above!
