Today the tech world was shocked when Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey posted a tweet announcing that he was stepping down from Twitter effective immediately. However, He will continue to serve on the board until 2022 when his term is set to expire.
Parag Agrawal, Twitter’s current CTO, will serve as the replacement for Mr. Dorsey.
In his letter to employees posted on twitter Mr. Dorsey also stated “And after that…I’ll leave the board.” It was noted that he wanted to give Parag the chance to lead without the influence from its founders.

“I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from it’s founders,“ said Dorsey. Adding, “My trust in Parag as Twitter’s CEO is deep. His work over the past 10 years has been transformational. I’m deeply grateful for his skill, heart and soul. It’s his time to lead.”
It was also announced that current chairman of Twitter’s board, Patrick Pickett, will also be stepping down from his role with the company.
All of this comes one day after Dorsey tweeted “I love twitter”.
