Global music star Eminem has a major reason to be proud. He earned a nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022.

Eminem was one of the 17 nominated acts this year that garnered a coveted nomination for the Rock Hall. This marked his first year of eligibility for this top honor, where artists become eligible 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording (whether that’s a single or an album of musical work). His debut album, “Infinite,” was released back in November of 1996 via the Detroit-based record label WEB Entertainment.

Along with Duran Duran, Dolly Parton, Carly Simon, Beck, Lionel Richie, and A Tribe Called Quest, Eminem is a first-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee.

Born Marshall Mathers, Eminem is recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his “unbridled controversy,” as well as his “unparalleled talent” and “unmatched superstardom.” His mantel holds 15 Grammy Awards, and Eminem is a trailblazer in his own right.

Eminem was the single best-selling artist of the ’00s, and the inaugural recording artist to have 10 consecutive albums to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 all-genre charts.

From a global standpoint, his internationally recognized status has solidified rap and hip-hop as the most commercially successful music on the planet. He has molded these genres into what they are today, and he served as a major influence for many rappers that followed in his footsteps.

Ironically enough, this past October, Eminem performed “Rock the Bells” alongside LL Cool J at the 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony when LL Cool J was being honored with the “Musical Excellence Award.”
