Big Little Lies and Parks And Recreation star Adam Scott was able to fulfill a childhood birthday wish!
In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on May the 4th which fans worldwide know as Star Wars day, guest host Kirsten Bell pointed out that Scott was obsessed with the Sci-fi franchise.
She then asked him about that time he invited Mark Hamill (who plays Luke Skywalker) himself to his second birthday.
"I believe it was my second birthday, I believe it was around the time Empire Strikes Back was coming out, " he mused, “and so I wrote him a letter inviting him to my birthday party.”
"Did you really think he was gonna come" Bell asked, to which Scott replied that he did, but he did state that he was not really that disappointed about it, and that he understood that he may have been busy.
“He didn’t show up and I remember not being crushed or anything,” he said. “It was fine. I knew he must’ve been incredibly busy.”
What a mature two year old he must have been.
He was about to continue on with another story when the familiar sound of the Star Wars theme started playing. Scott looked visibly shocked and he said "Oh no", probably he figured that something was about to happen. And it's not always good, he could be pranked, this is Jimmy Kimmel Live after all.
But then Mark Hamill stepped in wielding a green lightsaber. Scott could only smile, and with his hands shaking, he could only put his head on his palms.
His childhood idol then strode towards him, knelt down and presented him with the lightsaber. He of course took it, and hugged Hamill while still visibly shaken.
“I’m sorry I missed your birthday,” Hamill said. “I was checking my diary and that week I had two other birthdays, a Bar Mitzvah, and a supermarket opening!”
Scott though could only reply with, “this really is one of the best moments of my life.”
Well surely that more than makes up for the nearly four decade delay. Watch this fun meeting here:
