Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is one of ABC’s most highly anticipated shows of the 2013-14 season.
Since its announcement of the series’ pilot pick-up, highly classified details have slowly been leaking to the press.
One announcement that had fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe jumping for joy is the inclusion of Clark Gregg, who will reprise his role as fan-favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson.
Gregg, whose character apparently died at the hands of Loki in the 2012 summer blockbuster film: The Avengers, said that he has heard some interesting fan theories, but stated during an interview with E!, that fans are not even close to what series co-creator and co-Executive Producer Joss Whedon has planned for his character.
“I think that the answer people will get is cooler than anything I have ever read.” Said Gregg.
Since the official series trailer was posted onto YouTube, the two-minute and 48-seconds preview has accumulated over 4,000,000 views and received 13,000 likes.
While the clip showcases Coulson and some of his agents including Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) and Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) in action, a mysterious hooded hero (J. August Richards) had fans buzzing that this unidentified hero is Hero for Hire and former Avenger, Luke Cage.
However, in an interview with IGN, The Avengers director told fans to put away the ‘Sweet Christmas’ banners.
“You know, he’s just a guy.” Said Whedon. “I mean, the whole point of this show is, they’re just guys. They’re not The Avengers, they’re not the fancy ones. They’re the people that got sort of hit in the blowback of this super-world. So he’s kind of an everyman. He appears to be a very fierce everyman!”
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s premiere is expected to drop sometime in September.
