It’s a big news day for The Wolverine! First things first, two brand new posters were released this morning. They both feature everyone’s favorite thing about the X-Men film franchise – angry and shirtless Hugh Jackman! Although the photoshopping on each of them could use some work (hello, awkwardly horizontal belly button) it’s the thought that counts, right? We’ve got to say, we’re definitely intrigued by the army of ninjas in the first one.

Next up, a set of new stills from Entertainment Weekly. Yes, yes, we get plenty of fabulous views of Jackman’s un-photoshopped bod in this batch, but we also get something new. These stills include our first looks at characters other than Logan, aka Wolverine; namely, Viper (Svetlana Khodchenkova, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and Yukio (Rila Fukushima). Viper (pictured in the funky green outfit) is described by the film’s director, James Mangold, as being “snakelike”. Clearly she’s not one of the good guys, am I right? Of Yukio we know very little, other than the fact that she is the one who brings Logan to Japan.

And, finally, Mangold tweeted a very quick preview of the upcoming trailer for The Wolverine using what is quickly becoming one of our favorite apps – Vine! There’s quite a bit going on in this seconds-long teaser, but not nearly enough to tell us what’s happening.

We can’t wait to see the official trailer when it’s released in its entirety on March 27!

Here is the official synopsis of the film:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.
