Having reached the attention of the masses thanks to their track “Happy Together” appearing in full during an episode of the TV series Stalker, which then hit number 1 on the itunes indie rock charts and has since gone on to have 100,000+ YouTube views, SPiN are back with a new three-track EP titled My Hysteria. The collection is released June 10 and sees the band at their enigmatic, alternative-power-pop best.
Asked about the new record, the band say (with some undeniable sarcasm, I might add):
“My Hysteria came together pretty quickly. I guess we had some leftover dark vibes coming off of our Stalked EP success. The title track kinda has a dramatic movie trailer vibe to it – at least that’s what we were going for…That space we’re all in sometimes somewhere between crazy and sane, the back and forth of it, we tried to mirror that musically with the dynamics and build of the song. Either that or maybe we had a few too many – yeah, it was probably that. Like with everything we release, we make music that we’re passionate about, but we’re always curious as to what other people will think. Do they get it? Can they connect with it? Or is it self indulgent horse-shit? No matter what you do as an artist you never feel like you have it figured out. By the way, no, it’s not horse shit.
As for why people should buy our new EP, hmmm. How about they buy our EP because you may die tomorrow from a tragic hiking accident and you don’t want to deprive yourself of this once in a lifetime opportunity to hear true greatness. The masses demanded more SPiN, and we intend to not let them down.”
