While we were busy spoiling our mums or the mother figure in our lives, Ryan Murphy let slip the latest casting news for season 3 of American Horror Story. That’s right: heading down to the deep south to meddle in some dark arts will be Angela Bassett and Patti Lupone.
There has been no further news about their characters or the roles they will play in the highly anticipated third season, but its subtitle of Coven and the focus on witches surely gives fans some food for thought over the summer.
Bassett and Lupone are the latest in a stellar cast named for the third season. Also making the trek to New Orleans are new cast members Gabourey Sidibe and Kathy Bates. All four women will be joining returning cast members Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson and Taissa Farmiga. With such a line up of amazing female talent, the witches in this season will certainly be a force to be reckoned with.
American Horror Story will return to FX in the autumn.
