American Idol winner Kris Allen, 28, has become a father for the first time last Tuesday (July 30th), according to US Magazine.
The couple’s representative said, “Little Oliver Neil Allen is here! He’s 7lbs, 7oz, and 20 3/4 inches long. Mom and baby are doing great.”
Allen and his wife, Katy O’Connell, announced the pregnancy in January, after they were involved in a serious car crash. Allen tweeted after the accident, “Thank you @ford, for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family @katyallen @ZorroPup and the little one we have on the way safe.”
Allen then confirmed two months later at the South by Southwest festival in Austin Texas that he and O’Connell were expecting a baby boy. The singer gushed, “I’ve always wanted to be a dad… [Katy has] already started buying him clothes like mine. He’s already got some [fedoras].”
The couple have been together since high school and married in September 2008.
