If you’re a fan of classic American Idol then get ready, Melinda Doolittle is coming back to you with her new EP, You’re the Reason.

Her new collection of music boasts four songs that were co-written by Doolittle, a first for the Idol alum, who was Season Six’s third runner-up. USA Today discovered that the “cluster of horns” that signal the beginning of her title track inspired her to start writing.

Her involvement and writing contributions are just one major difference from her previous album, Coming Back to You. Melinda told me in a recent interview that her debut album was a series of “catalog” songs, but this time around she’s been “part of the process from beginning to end.”

When asked what we can expect from You’re the Reason, Melinda says, “A little bit of everything. R&B, soul, pop…it’s my baby. And I hope everything thinks it’s an adorable baby!”

Melinda’s sophomore collection debuted on iTunes today, so be sure and go download it and enjoy some ear candy courtesy of the talented songstress we fell in love with on the Idol stage. I mean, even Simon loved her!

Check out her single below…right before you go download the album of course.
