Something that really makes a TV show or a movie spectacular-other than a great story line and talented cast and crew-is how those people react to what they are participating in. Excitement and passion for a role or and idea that’s on their show or in their movie just adds so much more depth to it.
Andrew Garfield is one of the latest to show this in an interview with HitFix's blogger, Drew McWeeny. In the recent interview done at Comic Con, Garfield discusses how excited and nerve-wracking it is for him to take on such a large, dynamic and iconic role like Spider-Man. “I just know how much it means to everybody and how it belongs to everyone,” was what Garfield said, regarding playing the role the first and second time.
In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, we will be coming face-to-face with one of the most fantastic looking villains seen in a long time, Electro played by Jamie Foxx. When asked about what it was like working with Foxx, Garfield had nothing but amazing things to say, and admitted to being starstruck by him and “fanboying” over him, not knowing how to act. After stumbling over how he felt about Jamie, he went on to praise him with being a professional and being very passionate about his job.
McWeeny brings up the issue of trying to keep bits of the film that are huge story line or character twists secret, but that is hard to do in this day and age. Garfield says that he thinks if that information is out there about films, and we have access to it, then that’s great, but he really wants people and fans of him, the movie, and of Spider-Man, to have some self-restraint and see the movie and be surprised and in the moment.
The majority of the interview talks about having passion and respect for your work and the work of others. Garfield seems very excited about this installment of Spider-Man and appears to hold it very close to his heart and to very high standards. To watch the interview in it’s entirety, it’s below for your enjoyment. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will hit theaters next year on May 2, 2014.
