Since his passing, the family of the late Harry Hains has released a growing collection of the luminous creative’s music through artist name ANTIBOY that makes all those who hear the tracks dance, feel, and think.

The latest release, “Insanity”, is no exception. Produced by Leah Marojević and Fernando Garibay, who has worked with the likes of Lady Gaga and Sia, the electro-pop track features deep lyrics and moody vocals that showcase the internal struggles of mental health and addiction, something that millions around the world are familiar with, making the song deeply relatable on a personal level.

On the track, Hains illustrates the insanity he’s grappling with singing in a painful, but beautiful murmur, “feels like a cycle in my head, feels like a tempest in my bed,” emphasizing the internal conflict only those who’ve experienced this turmoil can understand.

The song bellows in and out of thoughts, and the ending includes a climatic choir singing the chorus beneath him, making the listener feel like they are hearing a conjunction of Hains’ innermost thoughts. The track finishes with a powerful whispered, “come back to me”, emphasizing a need for sanity Hains couldn’t seem to find, and through “Insanity”, Hains has once again allowed his impurities and imperfections to transcend through his art.

Directed by Agustín Farías, the accompanying video for the track is just as mesmerizing and features British contemporary dance artist Leah Marojević who beautifully represents the message of the song. Marojević lays on a lab table, seemingly taking part in some sort of experiment of the mind. The failed experiment leads to her frantically dancing in an empty room, displaying the mental spiral she is suffering from. A parallel is clearly being displayed within this video; that of the worlds’ view of those struggling with mental health and addiction, and the actual internal struggle that takes places within those who are suffering. 

Harry Hains’ ANTIBOY persona is a transhuman of sorts who lives in a dystopia, refusing the gender norms of the world we know. Everyone in ANTIBOY’S world is seen for their truest pure internal selves, something Hains desperately longed for.

“Insanity” is a continuation of the ANTIBOY message, emphasizing on the internal conflict of grappling with the chaos that exists within your mind. Harry’s mother, actress Jane Badler, is the driving force behind the ANTIBOY project and a dedicated advocate for mental health and LGBTQ+ issues. After her son’s passing, Badler continues to advocate for Harry’s message and artistry, releasing his music to preserve his vision and touch the lives of those facing similar struggles. With an eclectic group of creatives behind her, she continues to share ANTIBOY’s powerful message and vision with the world.
