Very seldom comes a time where I am excited about a film even before a shot is recorded but times are changing thanks to The Fault in Our Stars. The New York Times best-seller by Nerdfighteria co-founder John Green is the latest YA writer to have his work adapted for the silver screen and it appears that everything is beyond ‘Okay.’

While out promoting the latest Nicholas Sparks’ film Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, who will be producing TFiOS, spilled some details on the project.

The pair is very close to being in a place to hire a director for the film; expect that decision in about 2 weeks time.

Apparently every actress approached about the coveted lead role wants in; which will make casting both easier and more frustrating having to choose just one from what is sure to be a talented pool.

The script has the John Green seal of approval

John Green, the author of TFiOS, has been actively involved in making sure the screenplay does justice to his work. Green has read every draft of the script (penned by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber) and agrees with the producing duo that it truthfully captures the feel of the book completely. This news should quell the nerves of any Nerdfighters out there that were sceptical about a screen adaptation of their beloved book. Personally, if the original writer is happy with it, that’s a good enough endorsement for me!

Bowen and Godfrey also add that they hope to be in production by the end of summer.
