Archie purists can put away their pitchforks and breath a sigh of relief as Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa promises the Archie movie will not feature zombies.
When news broke last week that a new live-action Archie film was in production, speculation was rife that it may feature a zombie or two. There was very good reason for this, as it was also announced that the Glee writer and author of the Afterlife with Archie comic series, Aguirre-Sacasa, was on board to write the screenplay.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Aguirre-Sacasa assured fans that the movie would be separate to his Afterlife series. “The movie and this series are completely separate entities. Jon [Goldwater – the mastermind behind Archie] and I have been talking about the movie for a while now… [it] is going to be a straight-up teen movie. It’s Archie’s coming-of-age story”.
He also gave a hint at what fans are in store for in the film: “Expect to see fan-favourites Cheryl Blossom and Kevin Keller in it, in very prominent ways”.
How do you feel about a traditional Archie film? Would you have preferred it to be more along the lines of the Afterlife series? Who else do you hope will make an appearance? Let us know below.
