By now, the Internet has seen nearly every re-imagining of Disney princesses that could ever be imagined. From gender and race bends to gory horror makeovers, the iconic princesses have been depicted in every style.
However, Tumblr user bevsi, AKA Bev Johnson, brings something new to the table (in all of her art work). What makes her re-imaginings of the princesses so special is that there’s really nothing special about them. The princesses: Elsa, Anna, Merida, Rapunzel, Tiana, Mulan, Ariel, Jasmine, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Belle, and Aurora–are all drawn in Bev’s beautiful and unique style as average, everyday teenagers. Bev posted the images on her Tumblr with the modest caption “Disney doodles.” The drawings have gained nearly 40,000 notes since they were posted last month.
A few of the princesses have homages to their films in Bev’s drawings (i.e. Ariel’s clam shell
purse, Aurora’s pink and blue tips, Merida’s adorable bear boots and belt buckle), but for the most part they appear to be normal teenage girls, which is what we love so much about these illustrations.
