Divergent have cast their Natalie Prior! Natalie, the mother of protagonist Beatrice (Shailene Woodley) will be played by Ashley Judd in the movie adaptation of Veronica Roth’s bestselling novel.
Judd joins director Neil Burger’s film amidst reports that Aaron Eckhart will play Andrew, Natalie’s husband. Woodley’s casting is confirmed, alongside Ansel Elgort who will play her brother Caleb, and Ray Stevenson, who stars as her love interest Marcus. The story follows Beatrice, or Tris, who defies the rules of her homogeneous society by leaving her faction and joining a rival group, and ends up falling in love with a young man.
Production on the futuristic dystopia began this week in Chicago, and the film is set to hit the big screen on March 21, 2014.
