In the last twelve or so months, Ashlie Amber has been hailed “a standout artist in many senses of the word” by American Songwriter, been spotlighted by Billboard, Forbes and Taste of Country, and had her music featured on official Tidal, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music and Pandora playlists. She’s worked hard to make a name for herself and her popularity among fans and critics alike only continues to rise with the release of her latest single “Runnin’”, the lyric video for which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere.
Ashlie says of her new single: “’Runnin’ is a very special song to me because it’s the 6th song that I wrote during a 14-day writing binge, after a label head told me that I was ‘too Vegas’ and not authentic enough to be in the country music genre. But instead of taking that comment as a negative and crushing my dreams, I took it as a challenge and this song was born out of that challenge.”
Asked about the inspiration to and behind it, she goes onto add: “Everything I write I write from personal experience and this song celebrates my hometown love with whom I shared a wonderful piece of my life with that will never be forgotten. Although we aren’t together today, I think it’s important to not take away from the amazing memories we shared and to celebrate all the great aspects of being young and in love. As a writer it’s really easy to lean into to the heartbreak, but instead I always try and go for the fluff. The world can be a very difficult and harsh place so I really enjoy writing from a positive, quirky and fun perspective.”
As for how she would sum up “Runnin’”, she comments: “To me this song is fun, energetic and very romantic, which I personally believe county music can use a lot more of especially from the female perspective. I think this song is bringing back that 90s feel good sound and lyrics that Shania Twain and Faith Hill were known for and just I hope my fans connect with it and appreciate my prospective on love and life.”
