AVIV Unveils Her New Single “Black Coffee” & Its Video

“Black Coffee” is full of delightful rhythms but the meaning behind the track comes from a harsh truth of life.

The past year has been filled with tough moments, which has seen life as we know it all but end in many ways – at least for a considerably long period. However, you know what they say – as one story ends, another begins, and this is certainly true for the career of Toronto retro-pop artist AVIV. The 15-year-old, much like the rest of us, grappled with the idea of all the free time the pandemic offered and ultimately used it to launch her music career. With five singles under her belt already and a growing following across several social media platforms, fans around the world feeling a kinship to the singer through her songs that are packed with honest and personal lyrics, PopWrapped are delighted to premiere her brand new single “Black Coffee” and its video.

The single sounds like a vintage-pop dreamscape with a simple and charming visual to further display the teenager’s light energy as she dances through cool tones in the street and in her bedroom. “Black Coffee” is full of delightful rhythms but the meaning behind the track comes from a harsh truth of life. She shares: “Black Coffee is about how crazy it is that people we care about turn into strangers instantly. It feels as if we are black coffee with all the grains sitting in the bottom of the cup. So many memories and days that could have happened, yet they poured them out into the drain.”

Check out the video for “Black Coffee” below and be sure to pre-save the single on Spotify before its official release tomorrow. You can keep up to date with AVIV by following her on Twitter and Instagram or by giving her page a like on Facebook.
