Alt-pop artist Beck Pete never ceases to disappoint. Greeting the new year on a high note, her newest hit “Softie” stemmed from introspective self-healing to a desire to heal those in the same boat. What was originally meant as a reaction to failed relationships, “Softie” manifests a desire to surround herself with love that actually honors, appreciates and respects her, however in order to find it, she must learn to love herself first.
Reflective but relatable, Beck Pete internalizes her own self-worth and encourages others to do the same. Combining catchy mainstream melodies with captivating lyrics the track, like many of her previous releases, can and does appeal to a wide variety of audiences on a personal, almost intimate level.
Originally written alone in her room at a Lake Tahoe retreat, she chose to collaborate with music producer Jon Joseph to give the emotional single the anthemic quality that it deserves. The finishing touches to the track came courtesy of audio engineer Andy Park who gave the hard-hitting single its final “sparkle.”
Self-empowering and fitting for a variety of settings, “Softie” is sure to resonate with listeners across the globe. Regularly selling out notable venues in LA like The Echo and The Troubadour, Beck’s popularity across the west coast has skyrocketed in recent years, with her streaming numbers rising exponentially thanks to having her previous single “Gently Break It” featured on Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and now her future is looking better and brighter than ever.
