Beck has scored a nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for its Class of 2022.
A total of 17 musical acts made this year’s nomination list, where artists become eligible 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording (whether that’s a single or an album of their musical work).
This marks Beck’s first time appearing on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination ballot, along with Eminem, Duran Duran, Dolly Parton, Carly Simon, Lionel Richie, and A Tribe Called Quest.
Beck is recognized by the Rock Hall for creating “some of the most innovative and ambitious music of the past three decades.” His musical style encompasses such genres as folk, soul, funk, hip hop, psychedelia, electronic music, country, Latin, as well as all kinds of rock and roll.
He is an acclaimed singer, songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
After releasing over a dozen albums, his music has shifted in mood and style, and it has often “synthesized musical elements in pop collages and divinely layered soundscapes.
His mantel holds eight Grammy Awards, and he has been nominated for music’s top honor a total of 22 times in his respected career. His seminal studio albums “Odelay” and “Sea Change” have been listed among the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” by Rolling Stone Magazine.
