Big Brother Canada returned for its eighth season on Wednesday night as 16 brand new houseguests entered the comic book-themed house to begin a supersized 12-week battle to win the $100,000 cash prize.
Host Arisa Cox welcomes the new arrivals six at a time. When everyone is inside, the newbies get to mingle and get to know each other. Some of the houseguests are already rubbing each other up the wrong way and it looks like this cast is going to be built for some big-time drama as the season gets going.
Arisa appears on the plasma TV and informs the houseguests that a new twist is coming. She announces there is no Head of Household this week and Canada has been voting for their favorite houseguest based solely on their profile videos. The bottom four would be in danger of going home. She reveals Susanne, Nico, Chris, and Minh-ly. While that is bad news, they will have three chances to save themselves from the chop. And those opportunities would begin shortly. Chris is stunned and blindsided he is near the bottom of the vote, while Nico goes to the storage room and tells the camera “no surprise” because he’s not well-liked outside of the house.
The first challenge is physical, the second is mental prowess, and the final is social. For the first challenge, the four in danger must use their strength to hold up a car and hold on to save the “people” instead. The last houseguest holding onto their car is the winner.
Chris is struggling and his car is shaking, he tries to get it back in position but it was no use. It falls and he is out of the competition. Nico’s car is next to begin shaking and wobbling all over the place and it tips over, making him the next player to be eliminated. It is now down to Susanne and Minh-ly, two women who no one thought would have a chance when all this began.
Susanne starts moving and her car falls, making Minh-ly the winner. Minh-ly says she knows her personality comes across as cocky and arrogant but she talks the talk to back it all up. Chris, Nico, and Susanne are all still in danger and the mental challenge is up next. Who will survive and who will be the first to be evicted? We’ll have to find out tomorrow!
Big Brother Canada continues Thursday night at 8 pm ET on Global with the first eviction show with host Arisa Cox.
