The whole cast for the new Disney production of Into the Woods was released today but it appears that if there is one actor that was replaced in that lineup!
As reported earlier, Billy Magnussen will be filling the role as Rapunzel’s prince in the film but the original pick for the role was Jake Gyllenhaal, according to Deadline!
Magnussen has recently been nominated for a Tony Award for his work in Chris Durang’s Vanya And Sonia And Masha And Spike. He can also be seen in some recent on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and CBS soap operas Guiding Light and The Bold and the Beautiful.
While Gyllenhaal won’t be in this particular film, he is rumored to be joining the cast of Everest, a drama about British mountain climber George Mallory and his attempts to climb Mt. Everest in the 1920s, which also stars Tom Hardy.
Other stars joining Magnussen in Into the Woods include Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine. The film is scheduled for a 2014 Christmas release.
