Need a Date this Valentine’s Day? How about with a book?! It all started with Worthington Libraries in Worthington, Ohio and soon other libraries were catching on! Now I’m not sure about you but dates make me pretty anxious, but this is something that I can get behind. So here is the premise, all books are placed in a cover and facts about the book are written on said covers. The patron (that’s you) struts in and over to the Blind Date section and then find the book with a description that pleases ya! It’s that simple!
Now if you’re like me I’ll be spending my V-Day at work but I wouldn’t mind coming home to snuggle up with someone new (I mean a book, get your mind out of the gutter!). The plus side to book blind dates? It wouldn’t hold it against you if you’re just not that into it (although the librarian who put it there may).
I urge you to suggest this idea to your local library. It exposes you to books that you may otherwise overlook. Not to mention it may inspire others to pick up a book in general! Kudos to the folks at the Worthington Libraries for this ingenious idea!
