The revenge hungry, angsty high schooler with psychokinetic powers is on her way back to the big screen and today (24 April) by Empire revealed the new international poster for Carrie.
Featuring a blood soaked Chloë Grace Moretz (Carrie) emerging from a black background, it’s her eyes that the viewer’s gaze is drawn to as it sucks you in with the mix of shy yet lethal stare.
Director Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry) went back to the Stephen King novel as source material and inspiration but put a modern spin on the tale of the shy high schooler out for revenge on those who tease her. Peirce claims this was essential “in order to bring any great piece of work written in one era [the 1970s for this novel] into the next”. However, the story remains largely unchanged.
Given Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version is a Hollywood classic, Peirce has a lot to live up to. Check out the trailer below and see whether you think it’s on par.
Carrie comes to cinemas 18 October in North America and 29 November in the UK.
