With a rather unique, bluesy Americana sound, Bon Bon Vivant are a band that have been entertaining and electrifying audiences since they first made their debut. As a group, not only do they tend to pay homage to the city they call home – New Orleans – through their songs, including new track “Hell Or High Water” which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere, but they also make music that explores life as they see it; writing about moments and experiences that are both personal to them, but will resonate with others at the same time.
The song is the second release from the band’s upcoming album ‘Dancing In The Darkness’ which is set to drop on December 4th, and band member Abigail Cosio says of the track: “Hell or High Water is a song about bravery that builds over time, and realizing we are made of stronger stuff. The strength to face things that scare us becomes the component of ourselves we have been missing and helps change us into a version of ourselves never anticipated. It’s also about loyalty to one another as we encounter struggles and challenges and loyalty to ourselves as we go through hard times and become better on the other side. By the end of the song, we have realized we are made of the same forces as the storm that once scared us.”
She goes on to add that the song is: “..written from the perspective of a woman, relating to the natural world as something other than what she exists in and longs for, and ultimately returning to a wilder and less contained version of herself. “That storm is me.” We break out of our safe confines and walk towards challenges that ultimately shape us for the better. It speaks to our current and strange times, as everyone has faced unprecedented challenges over this year. And it just keeps getting stranger and stranger, so why not lean into the challenges.”

I love this song. Their previous single “Ship Is Sinking” is also great.
