Emily Deschanel never thought that her hit Fox series would make it to a ninth season.
It’s always impressive when a series make it to at least four seasons, and Bones fans are more than pleased that the hit crime solving series has come this far.
Emily Deschanel said that she “Never comprehended” the possibility that Bones would ever see a ninth season. Bones was renewed this past January by Fox for it’s upcoming ninth season, and set to return to our screens on September 16th.
Emily recently spoke at Fox’s TCA party (Television Critics Association) and told Access Hollywood ” I never even comprehended that nine was a possibility in any realm whatsoever.” The Bones actress went on to say, “When I started the show, I thought, this show could go for three years! But, that was the longest I could possibly conceive of and then the show went on. It’s just like, it keeps going and it blows your mind that it just continues.”
Emily stated that she feels “blessed” to have been apart of the series, which has managed to outlive other hit shows on Fox like 24 and House. Deschanel has been playing the role of Temperance “Bones” Brennan on the long running show, along with David Boreanaz who plays Seeley Booth.
Emily said that at the start of the ninth season, the couple’s romantic relationship “isn’t in a good place”. ‘There’s that serial killer stopping us from getting married and Booth has rejected her proposal and she doesn’t know why, so they’re really unhappy at the beginning of the season. We just filmed the first episode back, so it’s unusual to see these characters in that way.”
Earlier this year, David Boreanaz confirmed that he had actually considered leaving after the series’ eighth season concluded. But, he chose to stay with the show after talking to the series bosses about the upcoming storylines for the new season of Bones.
Bones airs on Fox in the United States and Sky Living in the United Kingdom.
