Donald Trump has finally done it. After a couple of years being named a runner-up, British talk show The Last Leg finally awards Trump with the highly coveted title of “Dick Of The Year” for 2017!
The annual awards are given out to who/what may be described as the worst thing for the UK and beyond for the given calendar year. Trump lost out to the year 2016 itself previously, which makes sense, so don’t feel bad about that one, Mr. President. However in 2015 he lost out to British Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, which is a shame, but back then he was merely just another candidate and hadn’t yet won as Republican standard-bearer.
British Prime Minister Theresa May and F1 driver Lewis Hamilton came in as runner-ups and were named “Ball Bags of the Year”. Other nominees include North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un, former British Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond. and Australian politician Bob Katter.
Actor John Hamm announced the nominees last week and said in his speech that Trump was nominated “for being Donald Trump”. There are no judges for this award, it all goes to people’s vote as the audience were told to tweet out their choice for the honor.
Host Adam Hills unveiled the winner this Friday after Trump had just scored his first ever legislative win: his Tax bill which he signed into law and which helps out his fellow billionaires and major corporations by providing them with massive tax cuts.
Harvey Weinstein was also given the “Steaming Turd” for a lifetime achievement in being horrible, which hopefully Trump may win someday.
We all know how much the President loves being admired and winning accolades, so this is another feather in his cap. So far the White House, spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders, or even Trump himself via his twitter account have not commented on this massive win, which is surprising since they love talking about the President’s many “achievements”.
But still it is an honor, so congratulations on the award, Mr. President!
