Oddbird Theatricals Launches Fundraising Campaign For ‘Bronies! The Musical’

A theatre company has launched a Kickstarter campaign, hoping to raise enough money for a large scale production of Bronies! The Musical in L.A.

Get ready, Bronies… A musical production may be coming to a stage near you.

A Kickstarter campaign was launched on August 14 to fund a large-scale production of Bronies! The Musical in Los Angeles. Funds will also go towards a professional soundtrack. If the project meets its stretch goals, they hope to bring the production on tour.

The production is described as a “musical love letter to the fandom experience” where “three outsiders find purpose, meaning & each other, all thanks to cartoon ponies”.

The description says the show is for “anybody who has ever been a fan of something, including bronies, non-bronies, and people who have never even heard of bronies. It’s a show for anyone who has ever felt ‘weird’ or different because of who or what they love”.

The show debuted at the Hollywood Fringe Festival on June 7, 2014, where it won the Best Musical award. It has received other honors including the THIRTY90NE Golden Elephant for best director/producers, and a Producers’ Encore Award.

It has received positive reviews from audiences for its comedy and heartwarming messages, and addresses issues nerds face in the real world and a message about anti-bullying.

The show features music by Joe Greene, and book/lyrics by Heidi Powers & Tom Moore, the award-winning creative team of The Real Housekeepers of Studio City.

As of today (August 22), the project has $9,112 pledged of their $15,000 goal. The campaign ends on September 10.
