On this week’s episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Terry announces to the precinct that Commissioner Madeline Wuntch is dead. Ding dong the witch is dead! This delights Holt as he is reduced to childish antics and insults whenever his arch-nemesis appears. He buys celebratory bagels and calls her a Korean toilet ghost. I think I have to agree with Rosa when I say that I love this colour on Holt.
However, in an email from the Commissioner’s Office, Wuntch leaves Holt a video message, challenging him to throw him a nice, at least civil, NYPD memorial. She threatens to have him fired if he says something mean at the service, which will end his career. With Amy and Rosa’s help, Holt manages to write a decent eulogy for the service by writing the opposite of what he really feels.
On the day of the memorial, there is trouble. It turns out that Holt may not have been Wuntch’s number one enemy and Amy can’t stop sweating as a result of fertility treatments. Someone named Adam attends the funeral claiming that he was Wuntch’s true nemesis and that she got him kicked off the force eight years earlier. Amy and Rosa think that something doesn’t add up. Adam tricks Holt into becoming friends and Holt shares his original all caps speech with him. Adam secretly records this and shows it on the screen when Holt is about to deliver his kind speech that won’t get him fired. It turns out Adam is Madeline’s nephew. Apparently being mean and conniving runs in the family. But Holt outsmarts him. This memorial was completely staged with improv actors. The real memorial is later. At the real memorial, Holt decides to be honest and admits that Madeline was a big part of his life. He even gets sad when Rosa mentions that after today, he never has to think about Wuntch again.
Back at the Nine-Nine, Jake has tickets to the premiere of the movie “Kwazy Kupcakes” and has to decide whether to bring Terry or Charles and their kids. Terry and Charles compete for the tickets. They bring the cute kids to the precinct, they bribe Jake, and they even get into a boxing match. Frustrated, Jake tells them that neither of them are going but he’s going to take Nikolaj, Cagney, and Lacey by himself.
Throughout the entire episode, Amy has been sweaty and moody and irritable. She thinks it’s because of the hormones, but it’s actually because she’s pregnant. Jake and Amy are going to have a baby!
