There’s a lot going on at the Nine-Nine this week and unfortunately, not a lot is going right. Captain Holt’s fluffy boy is missing, Amy tries to win a fancy stroller, and Charles and Terry try a new business venture together.
Cheddar’s Kidnapping
Captain Holt calls Jake into his office and he and Kevin are there and they are distraught. During their walk in the park, Kevin let Cheddar off his leash and he never came back. Jake tries to keep the two of them calm suggesting that Cheddar might have just run off. But Cheddar is no normal dog, he was raised by Kevin and Holt. They try to find the kidnapper by tracing a call but an emotional Captain Holt (there’s a word never used to describe Holt) blows the trace. Instead, Holt goes to the equipment room and loads up on grenades. Jake can’t let him leave the room until he puts the grenades back.
The kidnapper texts Holt his demands—files from May 2004 on a flash drive. Jake and Kevin go back to the scene of the crime to recreate the morning but everything reminds Kevin of Cheddar. Fortunately, all is not lost and they find a security camera, leading them to a former gang member. The kidnapper demands that Kevin bring the flash drive but since he has no idea what Kevin looks like, Kevin and Jake switch clothes and Jake pretends to be Kevin. However, this kidnapper is pretty smart and deduces that Jake is in fact a cop, but not before Jake frees Cheddar from the car. Cheddar runs back to Holt and Kevin.
Kevin goes to put the new GPS tracker on Cheddar’s collar when he realizes that he’s wearing Jake’s pants and the tracker is in his pants. At least now they can track down Jake. The squad tracks Jake to an abandoned warehouse. But the kidnapper is quick and puts Jake in a car. Holt isn’t giving up though. He climbs on top of the car, determined to get his revenge. Holt and the kidnapper have an epic showdown in the street. Holt knocks him out with a few good punches and yells “you too the wrong fluffy boy!” Nothing means more to Captain Holt than that dog.
The Snoog
Meanwhile, Amy tries to win a fancy stroller, a.k.a a Snoog. The contest involves keeping one hand on the Snoog for as long as possible and the last man standing wins. Amy takes Rosa with her. At the contest, Amy runs into her boring ex-boyfriend, Teddy, who also wants to win the Snoog. However, pregnant women can’t compete in the competition because of what happened last year. No one knows what happened last year. Rosa competes in Amy’s place and Teddy starts boring people out of the competition. Twenty hours later, it’s down to Rosa and Teddy. However, Rosa loses when she puts her hands over her ears to block out Teddy’s boring-ness. Rosa apologizes to Amy and says that she already bought Amy a stroller for her baby shower—and a gift receipt.
Business Partners
Back at the precinct, Terry is sore from his workout. Charles offers Terry some “bone broth” to ease the muscle pain. It works. The post-workout aches and pains are gone! Terry suggests they try and sell this stuff. They set up a meeting with Terry’s friend to propose the idea as a business venture but then the mixture starts exploding. Apparently, Terry left the salt out of the recipe and the salt stabilizes the rest of the ingredients. Oops!
