Camila Cabello Turned Down Chainsmokers Collab Because of Fifth Harmony

Camila Cabello turned down “Closer” collaboration with The Chainsmokers because of Fifth Harmony commitments she had to follow through with.

Turns out Halsey wasn’t The Chainsmokers first choice for the unstoppable single “Closer.”  In a recent interview with the Elvis Duran Morning Show, Camila Cabello revealed that she did a demo with the GRAMMY award-winning group. But ultimately, had to turn it down because of Fifth Harmony commitments she had to follow through with.

“I loved the song,” Camila said, “but I had to turn it down because I was with the group at the time, and we were about to put an album out. I always tried to do my solo stuff off cycle, so that was super on, and so I had to say no, and then that was the number one song in the world.”

It may be a good thing The Chainsmokers ended up collabing with Halsey instead. The single ended up becoming No.1 on Billboard charts for several weeks last year and also won three awards at the 2017 Billboard Awards, a Myx Music Award for “Favorite International Video” and an iHeartRadio Music Award for “Dance Song of the Year.”

Cabello’s decision hasn’t slowed her down either, since departing with Fifth Harmony, her career has blown up. The singer has performed at several award shows and hasn’t passed out on anymore collaborations. After leaving the group, the singer has collaborated with popular artists such as Machine Gun Kelly, Pitbull, J Balvin and Major Lazer.

And that’s not all, the singer is also breaking into the fashion industry by becoming the newest face of Guess’ Fall 2017 campaign.

Cabello a solo album, The Hurting, The Healing, The Love is set to be released this fall. Cabello described the album as a “story of my journey from darkness into light, from a time when I was lost to a time when I found myself again.” The first two singles  “Crying in the Club” and “I Have Questions” are now available.
