If you haven’t seen Iron Man 3 yet, which I totally recommend you do, you probably have no idea about the ending that left many of us questioning the status of the superhero in the second installment of the Avengers.
Spoiler Alert: Tony Stark leaves his suits behind. Well, he blows all of them (as far as we know) up, calling for a clean slate and drives away from the ruins.
Joss Whedon says that Tony Stark will respond when the Avengers are summoned. However, Robert Downey Jr.’s contract with Marvel Studios expired after Iron Man 3. Does that destroy the possibility of Robert coming back to continue his role as Tony Stark? Not really. While he apparently doesn’t want to overstay his welcome, I think it’s safe to say he wouldn’t be doing so, especially after the success of all three Iron Man films. And Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige definitely wants Robert Downey Jr. in the role for many years to come, implying that he doesn’t want a recast anytime soon.
We hope that Robert Downey Jr. returns, but how would you feel if Tony Stark were recast?
