Most recently seen as Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby; Carey Mulligan is now rumoured to be in pole position to play the role of former US Secretary of State, New York senator and First Lady, Hilary Clinton in the upcoming biopic, Rodham.
Despite no official announcement just yet, the British actress is thought to have beaten American actresses Jessica Chastain, Emma Stone and Scarlett Johansson to the role of Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Several sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Mulligan is set to have a sit-down audition with director of the film, James Ponsoldt. Both Mulligan and Ponsoldt are ‘eager for it to work’.
The biopic/drama will focus on Hillary Clinton’s earlier career in politics, from her involvement in Richard Nixon’s impeachment to her relationship with future husband and President of The United States, Bill Clinton.
What do you think of Mulligan’s supposed casting as Mrs. Clinton’s? Would you prefer someone else take on the role? As always, let us know!
