Charlene Kaye Gives Us A Taste of New EP With Single UUU

Singer songwriter Charlene Kaye (Kaye) releases her brilliant new single ‘UUU’ from her new and upcoming EP entitled Honey.

New York based singer/songwriter Charlene Kaye better known now a days as Kaye is the front women of the Indie-Rock Collective Band San Fermin but she is getting ready to come into her own.

While on tour with San Fermin, Kaye started creating and developing her own sound on her personal laptop. Now she is getting ready to release her newest EP entitled Honey and has just recently released her first single off that EP.

The song itself is entitled “UUU” (pronounced like the word ‘you’) and let me be the first to say its nothing but brilliance. Kaye told Stereogum this about the song,

When I wrote UUU I was listening to a lot of 90s R&B, a lot of Dream and 3LW. That summer, ‘Call Me Maybe ‘ was on rotation constantly and I was obsessed with it. I was like, ‘I’m going to write a pop song of Carly-level caliber and pitch it to her.’ It began as a genre experiment, but I ended up really connecting with the song and keeping it. The song is about the intoxication of falling in love- getting swept up in physical and emotional passion, feeling overwhelmed but also very safe and comfortable being yourself with this person.

Take a listen to the song for yourself below:

I personally thing this song is amazing and I am currently LIVING for this song.  The entire song from the bass, to the 80’s pop feel, to Kaye’s amazing voice and lyrics just brings this song full circle for me.

“Nobody else knows me better than you/How do you do do do it/ you gonna file it forever/no I never find nobody else.” How do you not feel something after you hear lyrics like that!? I can feel the story behind the song  and I felt like I have gone through what was being sung. I loved it!

Well if you want more of Kaye you’ll have to wait until August 19th when the Honey EP is released.
