Fellow fans of The BBC’s Luther, rejoice! Yesterday we got the one-two punch of an exciting trailer for the upcoming third series and a better idea of when we can expect to see it grace our televisions!
UK viewers, you will have to wait no longer than a month or so! Luther series 3 will officially be on the air in July!
And for those of us viewers in the US…well, we have a little while to twiddle our thumbs. The new series of Luther will air as a four-part miniseries this fall. BBC America will be showing it from September 3-6 at 10PM.
In case you’re unfamiliar with this (truly fantastic) show, here’s the scoop: Idris Elba stars as DCI John Luther, a brilliant police detective with unorthodox methods and a fondness for toeing the line between crime and justice. Although its first two series gained a lot of buzz, the show has been off the air since 2011.
It was confirmed earlier this year that this series will be the last for Luther, but it won’t be the last we see of John Luther. Following series 3 there are concrete plans for a movie.
