It’s double trouble for country singer Chely Wright with the arrival of two bouncing boys on Saturday.
Wright and her wife, music executive Lauren Blitzer Wright, became the doting parents to identical twin boys on 18th May in New York City, announced PEOPLE. Due in the summer, like the majority of twins, George Samuel and Everett Joseph (named after their great grandfathers) were born early, though the singer’s rep has revealed that they are both “thriving”.
In a statement to People, Wright says, “We are grateful for all the amazing medical care and the love and support of family and friends”.
The couple announced their pregnancy on Howard Bragman’s chatshow, Gwissues, back in January of this year.
In March, Wright then revealed the sex of their twins also to Bragman when he guest-hosted Joy Behar’s Say Anything segment on CurrentTV. Wright told Bragman “We’re having two little boys… We’ve known for a while that they were little boys, but we were keeping that private. But since you offered me French fries …”
Wright came out as lesbian in 2010 and is a role model for that community as today she is still one of the few country music artists to have publicly come out. She married Blitzer Wright in August 2011 in Connecticut. Blitzer Wright is also an LGBT activist.
We at Popwrapped congratulate the Wright’s on the additions to their family.
