We all know Chord Overstreet as Glee’s hysterical, quirky, and kind Sam Evans. Born in Nashville, the actor has risen to super-stardom with the role. As Sam, he makes us laugh with his one-liners, impressions, and facial expressions. Overstreet recently sat down with JustJared to talk a little but about his future in music, his inspirations, and obviously his experiences on Glee.
Although our first exposure to Overstreet was as an actor on Glee, he is a music guy…more so than you probably knew. He told Jared, “I started writing with my dad when I was 16 or 17. My dad’s been a songwriter since the beginning of time, for me. But he helped bring me along, encouraged me, and definitely made me into the writer I am today.” Who knew music is where Overstreet’s passion lies?
He’s a family guy too, but we already knew that with all his tweets promoting the band Hot Chellae Rae, for which his brother is the lead singer. Talk about support. Of his brother Nash, he said, “Nash is a super talented producer and writer. He’s one of the best guitar players, which not a lot of people know. He’s extremely talented. He’s a great writer, so whenever we get a chance – he’s busy 24/7 with his gig and I have an intense schedule sometimes as well, so it’s kind of hard – but when we both go back to Nashville, we link up and write.”
Born into a music family, there are no questions why Overstreet is so passionate about singing and songwriting. “I write a lot of different stuff because I don’t just write exclusively for myself. I just write what I feel at that moment. It varies,” he told Jared. Of his original music that he hopes to release on an EP, he said, “My stuff is kind of acoustic-y, pop-y, with a country element to it.”
For those now eager to hear some of Overstreet’s original music, your prayers have been answered. He will be performing a show at The Roxy on Sunset in Los Angeles this Saturday (July 20) at 1pm PST. If you don’t have tickets, buy them here.
We’ve seen the star show off his hot bod; but exclusive pictures from his interview are simply smoldering; and he’s fully clothes no less!
Also, thanks to an exclusive share with Perez Hilton, you can take a listen to Chord’s original song ”Beautiful Girl.”
