Chrissi Poland has long since understood the power of words and music. Having first found her musical voice at the age of 12, since then she’s never stopped working to hone her skills and share her own words with the world. Her new EP ‘Destination Home’ will be released on October 22^nd but before that, PopWrapped are delighted to premiere her new, uplifting and anthemic single “Wanna Be You.”

Asked as to what her message of and for the song is, and what she hopes those who hear the track will take from it, Chrissi says: “When I wrote the words: “She’s so full of hope, Sees poetry around her, Looks out of the window and sees, The beauty that surrounds her Baby, I’m talking to you, All you ever got to do, Is wanna be you” – I was thinking deeply about that soul-defining moment when you realize that you know who you are and how you might need to break away from everything that’s been shown to you. You have to find your space and also your support, whether that be within your family unit or outside of it. Before I ever had my own child, I had my nephews, who felt like my own kids. When my oldest nephew – who is becoming my niece – came out to us as transgender this past year, I knew this song was for her. So, to everyone who hears “Wanna Be You”: Be who you really are. Be your authentic self. Know your vibe, find your tribe. Every person, young and old, deserves to feel empowered in their lives, to live their truth. This is a beautiful life when we are all encouraged to be our true selves. Isn’t that the point?”
