Christie Brinkley Returns To Sports Illustrated Cover With Daughters

Christie Brinkley returns to the cover of Sports Illustrated’s annual swimsuit edition at the age of 63 and poses with her two equally gorgeous daughters.

Iconic supermodel Christie Brinkley is back on the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s annual swimsuit issue! This time, though, she is accompanied by her two equally gorgeous daughters, who are probably hopeful that they have inherited enough of their mother’s good genes (and most probably healthy lifestyle), so that they can look as good as her when they turn 63! Yes, that’s right! Christie Brinkley is 63! But it does not seem to show, as she appears ageless in her magazine cover.

“Yes! I am excited to announce that I am back in @si_swimsuit…I figured with my gorgeous daughters by my side who’s going to look at me!” she posted on her Instagram account with an image of her cover.

She also thanked the magazine for featuring her again at her age. “Thank you Sports Illustrated for sending the powerful message that good things come in packages of every size and we do not come with an expiration date!” she wrote.

Her two daughters who accompanied her in the shot, 31 year-old Alexa Ray Joel and 18 year-old Sailor Brinkley Cook, played a major part in getting her back in a bikini.

“My first thought was, ‘At my age? No way!’” she told People in an interview. “When I turned 30, I was like, ‘This is the last time I’m posing in a bathing suit!’ When this issue comes out, I’ll be 63. I thought, ‘Those days are over.’ But to get to do it with my girls, I thought, ‘One last go!’”

Christie Brinkley first achieved worldwide fame with her Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue covers. She appeared on three consecutive covers in 1979, 1980, and 1981 — the first time that such a feat had happened.

She was also featured exclusively in the first ever Sports Illustrated calendar and would continue to play a part in subsequent Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Editions and television specials. In 2005, she was featured in the magazine’s 40th anniversary issue Hall of Fame.
