Coline Creuzot Talks “Sometimes” & Future Plans

“…the song has a refreshing honesty. The message is, if you love someone, let them know.”

Acclaimed Los Angeles based R&B singer-songwriter Coline Creuzot just released her new single “Sometimes.” Written alongside Sam Hook, whose credits include Ne-Yo, Ella Mai, Trey Songz and Keyshia Cole, and produced by Happy Perez, best known for his hits with superstars Miguel, Mariah Carey and Frank Ocean, the song is a true ode to romance with all the warm shades of a great contemporary R&B hit.

Inspired to create a song that gives love a chance to bloom, Creuzot’s “Sometimes” is about being completely honest with your true feelings. She says of the track: “Sometimes we hold back telling people how much we love them or miss them for many different reasons, but the song has a refreshing honesty. The message is, if you love someone, let them know.” After almost two years of pandemic related isolation, “Sometimes”  couldn’t have arrived at a more perfect time, when we are encouraged to place a stronger emphasis on our relationships, because life as we know it is never guaranteed.

Best known for her silky vocals and sultry R&B ballads, Texas native Coline Creuzot has continued to make waves as an emerging artist over the past few years, with two of her songs, “Truth Is” and “You Tried It” peaking at #24 and #19 respectively on the Urban AC Billboard Charts. She’s also won over audiences with her energy and charisma, and opened for megastars such as Drake, Keyshia Cole, Monica, David Banner and TI. PopWrapped caught up with Coline to find out more about her latest single and to discover what her future holds.

Your new single “Sometimes” is about being honest and open with your feelings and feels highly emotive and deeply personal. What influenced the music, and how did it come together sonically?

This song is one of those that came together pretty easily. After a conversation in the Studio with Sam – as most of my sessions start off with a conversation about life and what we’re thinking/feeling for a particular song – it just flowed. Sam is an amazing storyteller and it is always a pleasure working with him.

Being vulnerable is not an easy accomplishment. It’s a true strength and requires a lot of courage. What practices do you put in place to stay vulnerable in your song-writing/career and in your general, day-to-day life?

I look at it as having a conversation. I appreciate the vulnerability and honesty that comes with making music. It is therapeutic for me and my goal is always to connect, heal and make people feel something through my music. I write and sing about personal experiences in hopes that it’ll touch someone. Music has the power to do so much… change our mood, allow us to feel certain things, it gives me great joy and a sense of purpose to be able to contribute to that.

What was it like working with Sam Hook and Happy Perez?

Happy produced my very first single “Give and Take”, which was the start of my career. Happy actually introduced me to Sam years ago, so this is kinda a full circle moment. They are both amazingly talented; it’s always a blessing and a pleasure working with them.

What themes are tied most to your music? What message or messages are you looking to share with your listeners?

My music is mostly about love and relationships. I try to empower people through my music, help them on their journey through love and their relationships by sharing my experiences.

Which of the many icons in music would you most like to work with in the future?

The list is LONG, but I’ll name a few: J. Cole, Drake, Lil Wayne…

Finally then, what’s next for you? Any upcoming plans you can tease?
