When the University of Missouri, Kansas City asked former Secretary of State, and potential future president, Hillary Clinton to speak at the opening of the school’s new Women’s Hall of Fame last year, they weren’t expecting to be told it would cost them a whopping $275,000. In a move which many might consider fiscally smart, they instead opted to shell out $65,000 to have her daughter Chelsea Clinton speak instead.
Both Bill and Hillary’s speaking fees have come under scrutiny for some time, even more so since Hilary launched her presidential campaign earlier this year. According to a source close to the pair, the duo earned more than $25 million as a result of giving 100 speeches between January 2014 and May of this year.
Since stepping down as US Secretary Of State, Mrs. Clinton has repeatedly said that every dollar she’s made as a result of speaking at universities has been put into the Clinton Foundation.
Chelsea Clinton’s spokesman later confirmed that the fee collected from the University of Missouri also went to the foundation.
