Many people believe that guys shouldn’t cry. But sometimes, there are things in this world so beautiful that they could make anyone cry. One such example is a letter a dad wrote to his gay son, which has gone viral on the internet. The message represents everything any gay teenager hopes for when that difficult moment of coming out to your parents arrives.
The letter reads, although I’d definitely advise you to read it in the image above first, “I overheard your phone conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me. The only thing I need you to plan is to bring home OJ and bread after class. We are out, like you now. I’ve known you were gay since you were six, I’ve loved you since you were born.”
As if that wasn’t enough yet, he finishes the letter with “Your mom and I think you and Mike make a cute couple.” Don’t you just want to hug someone now? Unfortunately, in the US, things like these are still quite a rarity, which is why the letter spread out over the internet very quickly, tearing people up around the world.
The letter was posted on the facebook page of FCKH8.com, an organisation which tries to promote gay rights and to support those who are still troubled by their sexuality by posting videos, selling T-shirts and, apparently, posting beautiful pictures.
The founder of the website, Luke Montgomery, remained realistic, and commented that “It’s actually sad that so many people are excited about it. I think it says that, one, it’s rare, which is really bad, and two, people are really craving this kind of reaction.”
Unfortunately, he is right about that. Although the position of gay men and women is improving rapidly within the Western world, in many countries such as America, it is still a very big problem.
